This is a dissertation which I presented to the panel of examiners for the award of MA degree in security studies at the university of Hull.UK. The dissertation delves into the security challenges facing the whole of the Eastern African region. It gives an insight into the intricate clan situation of conflict management in both Somalia and Sudan. The recent piracy problems being experienced in the region are as a result of weak or lack of governance structures in Somalia and Sudan.
